Chemical Properties - Reactivity
Reactivity is the rate at which a substance undergoes a chemical reaction.  Chemical reactions alter the identity of substances, forming new substances with different properties.

For example, some of the alkali metals from the periodic table are shown below.  Each alkali metal is reactive with water, but some are more reactive than others.  The metals become more and more reactive with water as you move down the column.
